The 20-Question Marketing Audit You Can Do Yourself

By the Nysia team 路 November 2, 2026

Most small businesses are doing some marketing: a website, a Google profile, a few ads, maybe some emails. What's often missing is a clear picture of what's actually bringing in customers. This quick audit helps you find out.

Grab a coffee, answer each question with a simple yes or no, and note every "no". Those are your priorities.

Your goals and numbers

  1. Do you know how many new enquiries you get each month?
  2. Do you know where they come from: Google, ads, referrals, social?
  3. Do you know roughly what a new customer is worth to you?
  4. Do you know what you spend on marketing each month, including tools and time?

Your website

  1. Does your site load quickly on a phone?
  2. Can a visitor see what you do, where, and how to contact you within a few seconds?
  3. Does each main service have its own page?
  4. Are there clear buttons to call, book or get a quote on every page?
  5. Do you show real reviews or examples of your work?
  1. Have you claimed and filled in your Google Business Profile?
  2. Do you show up when you search for your main service and your city?
  3. Have you received new Google reviews in the last month?
  4. Are your name, address and phone number the same everywhere online?

Content

  1. Do you add something useful to your site at least once a month?
  2. Does each service page answer the questions customers usually ask on the phone?
  3. Do you know which pages bring in the most enquiries?
  4. Have you updated your homepage in the last year?

Your brand and follow-up

  1. Do your website, profiles and documents look consistent, with the same logo, colors and tone?
  2. Do you reply to every enquiry within a few hours?
  3. Do you follow up with people who asked for a quote but didn't book?

What your score means

  • 16 to 20 yes: you're in good shape. Focus on testing and scaling what works.
  • 10 to 15 yes: solid foundations with a few leaks. Fix the "no" answers in your numbers and tracking first, then the website.
  • Under 10: you're probably leaving a lot of customers on the table. Start with questions 1 to 4. Without the numbers, everything else is guesswork.
The most expensive marketing is the kind you can't measure.

Where to start

Don't try to fix everything at once. Pick the three "no" answers that are closest to the money, usually tracking, your Google profile and your main service page, and fix those this month.

Want a professional second look? Our marketing audit goes through your website, Google presence and brand in detail, and gives you a plain-English plan of what to fix first.
